Are there mixed-gender rooms, and what support is available for LGBTQIA+ members in this regard?
At present, we do not offer standard mixed-gender rooms within our hostels. Our room allocations are generally organised according to existing accommodation structures and availability.
In some cases, for example when family members or individuals joining together as part of the same volunteering group/residents and request to share, we may be able to accommodate this where room configurations allow. We are always happy to consider individual requests and do our best to support them within our operational limits.
LHA London is an inclusive community, and we are committed to ensuring that everyone feels respected, safe, and able to be themselves. While we recognise that mixed-gender accommodation can be an important aspect of this for some individuals, this is not something we are currently able to offer as a standard option across our residences or volunteering programme. If this is a key consideration for your comfort, we would recommend exploring single-room residency options, where available, as they may provide a more suitable arrangement.
