Can I disclose my disability?
Absolutely. We encourage volunteers to tell us about any disability, health condition, accessibility requirement, or support need that may affect their volunteering experience.
LHA is committed to being an open, welcoming, and inclusive organisation, and we want all volunteers to feel comfortable being themselves. Sharing this information allows us to better understand your needs and consider any reasonable adjustments or additional support that may help you participate in volunteering safely and successfully.
Where possible and appropriate, we will do our best to make adjustments to volunteering tasks, duties, or arrangements to support you. We will also consider any relevant health and safety factors to help ensure your wellbeing and the wellbeing of others within the hostel environment.
Disclosing a disability or support need will not automatically prevent someone from volunteering with LHA. Each situation will be considered individually, taking into account the volunteer role, available support, operational requirements, and health and safety considerations. Our aim is always to find ways to support people wherever reasonably possible.
Providing this information is entirely your choice, but we encourage volunteers to be open with us so that we can work together to create the best possible volunteering experience. Any information shared will be treated sensitively and only discussed with those who need to know in order to provide appropriate support.
