Can I volunteer for fewer hours and receive a discount on a resident room instead?
Unfortunately, not.
LHA's volunteering programme and resident accommodation arrangements are separate, and we are unable to combine the two by offering reduced volunteering hours in exchange for discounted accommodation.
This is similar to why individuals cannot hold both employee and volunteer status with LHA at the same time. Volunteering must remain a genuinely voluntary arrangement, with accommodation being provided solely to support volunteers in carrying out their agreed volunteering duties where applicable.
For resident volunteers, accommodation is provided as part of the volunteering arrangement and is intended to help volunteers fully participate in the programme and contribute to the hostel community. It is not calculated as a discount or exchange against a reduced number of volunteering hours.
If you are interested in contributing without becoming a resident volunteer, please refer to the question " Can I volunteer with LHA without becoming a resident? I live in London would like to gain hospitality experience/simply contribute." We may be able to discuss alternative volunteering opportunities depending on your availability, location, and the needs of the hostel.
