Can I volunteer with LHA without becoming a resident? I live in London would like to gain hospitality experience/simply contribute.
Absolutely.
While many of our volunteers live within our hostels as part of the volunteering programme, this is not always necessary. If you already live locally and would simply like to gain experience, develop hospitality skills, contribute to a charitable organisation, or support the local community, we would be delighted to discuss volunteering opportunities with you.
As our hostels operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, there can often be flexibility to find volunteering opportunities that fit around your existing commitments. We will do our best to consider your availability, preferred hostel location, proximity to your home, and the type of experience or skills you are hoping to develop.
In these circumstances, volunteering arrangements differ from those associated with volunteers at the hostels, and there is no expectation that you must volunteer between 20 and 25 hours per week. Any contribution towards supporting our charity and community is greatly appreciated, and we are always happy to discuss what might work best for both you and the hostel.
