Can students volunteer?

Yes, absolutely. In fact, the majority of our volunteers are students who balance their university commitments alongside volunteering and outside part-time work.

Volunteering with LHA can be a great opportunity to gain practical experience, develop transferable skills, meet people from different backgrounds, and become part of a supportive community while studying in London.

Please note that volunteers are expected to commit to an agreed duty block and schedule discussed during the initial chat. Where possible, if a student has an important university commitment or occasional clash, a discussion can take place with the Hostel Teams to see whether a different day off duty or adjustment may be possible depending on operational needs. Students must also ensure they comply with any Visa or Right to Live conditions applicable to them while volunteering.
