Do I need a visa to volunteer in the UK/ Which visas allow volunteering?
This will depend on your personal circumstances, nationality, and immigration status. As LHA cannot provide immigration or visa advice, we strongly recommend checking the official UK Government guidance before making any travel arrangements or submitting an application to volunteer.
It is the responsibility of each applicant to ensure they have the correct permission to volunteer and reside in the UK where required. Before joining our active volunteering pipeline, all applicants must successfully complete our Right to Live in the UK verification process.
Under current UK guidance, individuals entering the UK under certain visitor routes, including a Standard Visitor/Tourist visa or Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA), may volunteer with a registered charity for up to 30 days, provided that volunteering is not the main purpose of their visit to the UK. Under student visa, Youth Mobility Scheme, and Charity Visa people can volunteer for longer than 30 days. As immigration rules can change, applicants should always verify the latest guidance directly with the UK Government before travelling.
