I am currently a resident at an LHA hostel and would like to become a volunteer. What is the process?

The process is the same as for all volunteering applicants. You will need to submit an application through our website and, once your Right to Live in the UK has been verified, you will be added to our active volunteering pipeline and considered for suitable opportunities as they become available.

If you are unsure how to apply, any member of staff at your hostel will be happy to guide you through the process. Residents often hear about volunteering opportunities first-hand while staying within the LHA community.

Even if there is no volunteering role currently available at your hostel, opportunities may be available at other LHA hostels, and vacancies can sometimes arise unexpectedly even when a volunteer team initially appears to be full.

If you are offered a volunteering role, you will need to provide 7 days' notice to the Reservations Team before changing from resident status to volunteer status.

Please also note that residents who become volunteers at a hostel cannot later return as residents at the same hostel where they volunteered. However, opportunities may still be available at other LHA hostels across the organisation.
